Task Groups

The Task Groups (TG) in QUEST are flexible units that respond to identified challenges emerging from the particular Research Areas. The task groups solve the specific tasks, that require the co-operation of more than a single Research Area, or that are beneficial to more than a single Research Area. Combining the expertise of several Research Areas as well as external competence for solving well defined problems allows for increased synergy and hence will lead to an added value for QUEST. In the course of responding to the emerging needs of the cluster in a timely and well focussed way the Task Groups will identify also new science goals and novel technologies as well as develop new visions. These in turn will be fed back to the Research Areas by the respective members, thereby improving the capabilities of the particular Research Areas.

Task groups are “work benches” where specific visions are turned into reality. In contrast, Research Areas promote their fields on a broad basis. Consequently, they have the resources, competence and develop the long-term strategies. In a first step, seven Task Groups will be established and are described below in more detail.
